Including graphics in LyX documents |
If you use LyX, the graphical interface to LaTeX, you can
insert figures in Encapsulated PostScript
format into your LyX document as follows. From the
"Insert
" menu, select "Figure
", click on
"OK
", and enter in the dialogue box the path to your
graphic.
Alternatively, to create a floating figure with a caption,
select from the "Insert
" menu the "Floats
"
option, and then select "Figure Float
". In the
outlined box that appears in your LyX screen, you can type in
a caption, and you can include the graphic in that box by next
selecting from the "Insert
" menu the "Figure
"
option.
If you plan eventually to turn your LyX document into PDF,
then be sure to read section 3.3.6.3 in the Extended LyX Features online help. It tells you (a) to convert your
Encapsulated PostScript
graphic with extension eps
into a PDF graphic with
extension pdf
by using the command "epstopdf
"
and (b) to leave off the extension when you type the filename into
the dialogue box mentioned above.
According to section 1.8.3 of the Extended LyX Features online help, it is possible to wrap text around graphics as in the example. However, I have not been able to make this feature work in LyX version 1.1.6. It is possible to use raw LaTeX code to achieve this effect, as mentioned in another section.
