How to use Web browsers

If you are reading this, you probably have figured out the most important piece of information: text that is underlined, or in color, or highlighted is a link to another of page of information. Clicking the mouse on the link displays a new page of information on your screen.

To go back to the previous page of information, click on the "Back" button (probably located on a menu bar at either the top or bottom of your browser window).

If the "page" of information does not fit on the screen all at once, then there is probably a scroll bar at one side of the window. Click the left mouse button in the scroll bar to scroll the window, or hold down the middle mouse button and drag the elevator in the scroll bar. (Mouse actions may vary with your browser and with your terminal.)

If you want to go to a specific World-Wide Web address (specified by a Uniform Resource Locator, or URL), click on the "Open" button. This brings up a window that prompts you to enter the URL.

To exit the Web browser, click on the "File" item in the menu bar at the top, and then click on the "Exit" option.

For more detailed information, you can read the Mosaic User's Guide or the Netscape Handbook (whichever is appropriate for your browser).
